Where We See Raptors Up Close And Personal
We have a half day in Sitka today before setting sail once again for the afternoon. We visited the Alaska Raptor Center, where injured eagles, owls, and hawks are cared for and, if at all possible, released back into the wild.
Eagles that can be rehabbed and released live in the flight center, where the environment simulates the wild as much as possible as the birds recuperate from injuries and regain their strength.

There are 26 permanent residents – birds whose injuries don’t allow them to be released back to the wild.
